Hey everyone. This is my first time ever blogging, so it should be pretty interesting to see how this semester goes. I think it may take me a little while to get the hang of this stuff, so bear with me.
I was really shy about blogging for about the first year. It took about that long for me to even venture into the nether-regions of the template to learn how to do a link, or even how to italicize something.
I wouldn't recommend waiting that long -- I missed out on a lot of stuff that way. Now that Google has simplified everything (hey, you don't even have to read code!) it's definitely a good idea to delve right in.

I agree, things have definitely become a lot easier as far as text and the web. When I first started using customized text and images for online webpages/journals I had to do it with HTML code, which can be quite tedious.
